Traffic? NoChance! was a sound installation 1998 in Berlin.
It was located at the Kulturkiosk in Zehlendorf and lasted 1 week. It used live input from the traffic sound of nearby crossroads. The sounds had been analyzed and treated accordingly, which transformed them into some sort of „Melody of the Roads“, creating a kind of meditative sound scape… listen to an excerpt:

I recorded every hour of that installation, and burned it on to a unique CD. As I still have some of theses CDs I can offer them here…
Back then I borrowed a CD recorder, and recorded also on to the hard drive of my Quadra 900. I had to switch between these methods, as the CD-recorder would need 5 extra minutes to finish. The duration of these CDs vary between 52 and 74 minutes. In theory there exist 168 unique recordings. But of course some did not work out, and I can’t remember when I started recording on Saturday and when I stopped Friday, 7 days later.
But I recorded day and night, sleeping at the location to switch CD’s (my hard drives did not have much space, and the duration of a recording was limited to 2 GB).
I put the recorded Cd’s into a simple sleeve and attached a printed label. Nowadays I would not do this again, but ten years ago it seemed to be a valid method…
I will sell the remaining CDs now with the following rule for pricing: The first order will be just shipping costs that means 0 Euros, the second order will cost 1 Euro plus shipping, the third 2 Euros plus shipping and so on…
The earlier you order, the cheaper it will be… Of course I don’t mind to get more, if you feel its worth it and if you want to support my work…

These CD-R’s are from 1998, I discovered that some actually would have difficulties to play properly in all players. Thats why for safety reasons, I ripped those to a FLAC format. As soon as you order a CD, I’ll send you a link to that FLAC or a wave file and after you downloaded it, I’ll delete it from my hard drive. I want to keep these recordings unique. (Thats the whole point about uniqueness isn’t it?)
I don’t trust CD-r’s and they will fail in the future (the manufacturers claim several decades, but my experience is different…) When the CD reaches its lifetime, be it in 1 year or in 20 years, you would not be able to listen to it anymore. Just to prevent that, you get a safety copy and could listen to it even before the physical CD arrives…
Its your own responsibility to keep your recording unique. There is no restriction to burn backups or give copies to your friends according to fair use…
